Inuit Municipal Administrators Development Program

The Inuit Municipal Administrator Development Program (IMADP) is designed to meet the specific needs of Inuit working in local government. This program aims to develop a group of skilled leaders ready to take on the important role of Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) in their communities.

With a mix of online lessons, webinars, and in-person training, participants will work together to make connections and strengthen their knowledge of community government and governance . The program helps build the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities needed to navigate the complexities of municipal administration. By focusing on developing Inuit talent, we aim to strengthen local governance while respecting and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Nunavut.

In Person Sessions

Four in person sessions will be held. Each session will be three days. Some sessions will be led by a facilitator while others will get out and explore municipal services.

Online courses

There will be 17 online courses. These a re 1-1.5 hour courses, designed to increase knowledge on various topics

Group Discussions

The week after completing an e-learning course there is an in-person discussion among the participants to deepen their learning.

Essential Skills

The ability to slow down and take your time to get something done perfectly is often lost in our fast paced world. Participants will be challenged to slow down and solve problems through patience and practice.

Funding for travel for the in-person sessions has been provided by Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and will be reimbursed with receipts, when the participant has attended all three days of the event.
